Post Christmas Blues

Well here we are, after months of build up its over again for another year. Don’t get me wrong I like Christmas, purely from the giving presents, snow and family point of view. Never really been into religion, but fully appreciate what Christmas is about.

It’s been interesting listening to my 7 year old. She recently went to church for the first time with a friend from a “Churchy” family. She loved it and it has never crossed her mind that maybe God doesn’t exist, just like she is a total believer of Father Christmas.

Presents are a funny thing when you are parent. When do you know you’ve bought enough presents to make yourself feel good about being a good parent, and not enough to make you think you are spoiling them? I’m amazed by the length some parents go. Surely part of the present giving is also to make the kids appreciate what they have got? If they have everything they ask for then they will always expect it won’t they? Or maybe I am being Scrooge after all? I don’t think so though.

It’s also my daughters birthday near Christmas so she gets double bubble. The house is always full of goings on which is wonderful though tiring for all concerned. So far we have had:

·        Family Christmas at our house,

·        Boxing day at in-laws.

·        Birthday close friend gathering on the day.

·        Friends birthday party today.

·        Actual Daughters birthday party tomorrow

Then I go out on Friday with friends, then of course its New Years Eve! Party Party, Party. For once we actually are going out for NYE as well.
